Rev. Pieters is an AIDS survivor who was given mere months to live back in the 1980s. Steve is not only alive – he’s alive!! Steve has served on the Boards of Directors of AIDS Project Los Angeles, the AIDS Interfaith Council of Southern California, the AIDS National Interfaith Network (USA), and the first Los Angeles City/County AIDS Task Force, and was Field Director for the AIDS Ministry of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches from 1987 to 1997. He has written a series of articles for Journey magazine about his experiences with AIDS, which have been collected with other writings of Rev. Pieters’ in the book, I’m Still Dancing.
Jody Vaclav, who works as a set designer for Wheel of Fortune, has her own incredible story to share. Along with being a stroke survivor and being told she’d never speak again – Jody made her transition from Joe to Jody 30 years ago. She has written and starred in her one-woman show, “Inside Out-A One Person Show in Two Persons,” and continues to be a beacon to others who are searching for their own identity and place in the world.
Alison Arngrim, most known for her role as Nellie Oleson on “Little House on the Prairie,” will be your host for the afternoon. Her book, “Confessions of a Prairie Bitch,” will be available, as well as Indomitable Spirit t-shirts, tote bags and our NEW Indomitable Spirit scented candle!
