Dawn Lyn was everybody’s favorite little girl. She’s best known for the character of “Dodie” from the hit sitcom “My Three Sons.” Click here for a full list of her acting credits.
While her young life might have appeared quite glamorous, the truth is, Dawn’s off-screen life was anything but ideal. With an absentee father and a controlling mother, Dawn, at the tender age of 5, was burdened with the task of being breadwinner for the family. While on the set life was good, at home and at school she experienced emotional and verbal abuse.
As time went on, Dawn’s acting roles dwindled. Her brother, teen idol Leif Garrett, took over the responsibilities of earning the money for the family while Dawn had to adjust to life outside of the entertainment industry.
Throughout everything, she never let her success as an child actress define her. She constantly sought to calm her spirit and find inner peace while battling the same frustrations and challenges as anyone else, all while in the public eye. Dawn rose above the challenges she faced and is now leading a full, productive, empowered life outside of the world of show business.
She is proud of herself for finding her inner strength, staying true to herself, and not trying to escape her problems through addiction. Her story will make you laugh and cry, but most of all her story will fill you with hope that, no matter what life throws at you, you can Emerge Victorious.
